Walt Disney
December 5 1901- December 15 1966
The 1920s was all bout changes and Walt Disney did exactly that
he changed the entertanment and animation world forever. He revolutionized the entertanment industry through his creative mind. He was the first person to put sound with animantion, and he was someone that never gave up, someone that always followed his dreams. Therefore he was an imsperation to many in the 1920s.
Walter Elias Disney
He was born on December 5, 1901
in Chicago Illinois and he was one of
five kids. There was four boys and one
girl. His father was Elias Disney a
Irish-Canadian and his mother Flora
Call Disney a German-American.
Shortly after Walters birth him and his
family moved to Marcline Missouri.
Walt was interested in drawing at a
young age. When he was seven years
old he would sell sketches and drawings
to his neighbors. Walt went to McKinley
High School in Chicago, most of the time
he was drawing or taking pictures for
the school news paper. At night he
would attended The Academy of Fine
Arts to better his drawing skills. Later
on him and his family had moved
to Kansas City. Later Walt had gotten
interested in acting and performing.
He would start imitating his silent
screen hero Charlie Chaplin. Against
his father permission he would sneak
out of the house at night to perform
comical skits at local theaters. Then in
the fall of 1918, Disney tried to go
into military service. He was denied
because he was under age, he was sixteen
at the time. So then he decided to
join the Red Cross and was sent
overseas to France, and there he spent
a year driving an ambulance and chauffeuring
Red Cross officials. His ambulance was
covered from stem to stern, not with
stock camouflage, but with Disney cartoons.
Once Walt returned home he wanted to pursue
A career in commercial arts, which soon lead to
what he does best animation. Once he started
to create The Alice Comedies Walt ran
out of money and his company Laugh-
O-Grams went bankrupt. That didn’t
Stop Walt from following his dreams,
Then he decided to pack up and take
The Alice Comedies to Hollywood to
start a new business, he wasn’t even
twenty-two.
About Mickey Mouse
After finding out that M.J. Winkler
and her husband, Charles Mintz,
had stolen the rights to the character
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and all Walt’s
animators, except for UB Iwerks. Even
something like this wont stop Walt from
doing something he loves. So in 1928 on
a train ride home Walt decides to just doodle
and who he doodle up was Mickey Mouse.
After going back to his studio with only him
And Ub to animate, with the help of Walt’s
Wife Lilian Disney and Roy Disney’s
(Walt’s brother) wife Edna Disney to
Ink the animation cells. They came up
With three different versions of Mickey Mouse.
Since the first two didn’t sell he decided to add
Sound to the last one, “Steam Boat Willie”.
This became the first cartoon with synchronize sound,
And with Walt as the voice of Micky Mouse
It became the beiggest succes. Till this day
Mickey Mouse is still a cartoon that every
one watches.

Disney Today
Disney is more then just some ones name
it is now a TV channel, it is now a theme park,
and an insperation to all. Walt Disney was the
average joe who just never gave up and followed
his dream, look were that got him today! He created a
theme park for people of all ages to enjoy. This isnt your
average theme park, Disneyworld has five diffrent locations,
California, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Florida. People of all
different backrounds get to experince a place were all your dreams
could come true. This isnt his only major accomplishment. He went from
making short films to long lenght movies that every one knows about.
Walt disney never gave up on his dream and even though he has passed away
he will still be known for many many more years for his great accomplishments.
